Digest: April wrap-up

I laughed, I cried, I'm (technically) still alive

It has been a huge month and I am physically and mentally draiiiined. Catching up with friends, going out at night (ew), dealing with some mild insomnia and a misbehaving kitten. Hoof. I’m going into the month of May with a terrible cold as well. Ugh.

However, in addition to some challenges - April also hosted many, many positive experiences and successes. So here they are listed, like a journal entry to my future self.

Gags n stuff.

James Acaster performing stand-upJames Acaster - Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999

E and I spent this whole month absorbing as much stand-up comedy as we possibly could. Highlights were Anne Edmonds (AU), Rhys Nicholson (AU), David O’Doherty (IRE), Demi Lardner (AU), Greg Larson (AU), James Acaster (UK), Maria Bamford (USA) and Zoe Coombs Marr (AU). All of these were sensational shows. Time for a long rest… until next year.

I’m back on Github! Trying to contribute daily when I have time.

I revived an open source project, Gulp Caddy. v0.0.11-alpha is here and we’d love to have some contributions in the form of testing! ๐Ÿ˜

I’m going to be using Gulp Caddy to remove my CodeKit dependency on this website - so I can convert it into a Hugo Theme, and make it open source!

Some repo’s I ๐Ÿ’–’d this month:

Life long learnin’

My never-ending front-end adventure quest has led me to the following loot boxes:

  • Advanced Vue Components, via Vue Mastery
  • Express JS for writing simple backend REST API’s
  • GraphQL
  • Functional programming in JavaScript
  • Cordova for iOS apps
  • Unit tests + Test driven development, via Fun Fun Function
  • Node JS, particularly the FS system in assisting with simplifying repetitive tasks

Still readin’

I’m reading books! Probably too many at once. I’m trying to get through Eloquent Javascript (still), Vue JS: Up and Running, and in order to assist in pursuing a new interest, Designing Web API’s.

Some blog posts I ๐Ÿ’–’d this month:

Lovin’ this kittin’
